Dear forum,

Is there anybody with a knowledge of the Midlands who maybe able to find a good match for my ancestor William Baker on the census records? It seems both William and Baker were very popular names during this period, and I can't determine the correct 'William Baker' after the 1891 census

Birth 1864 • Maple Hayes, Staffordshire, England
Residence 1871 • Woodhouse, Burntwood Edial and Woodhouses, Staffordshire, England
Residence 1881 • Burntwood Edial and Woodhouses, Staffordshire, England Relation to Head of House: Son; Occupation: Agricultural Labourer
Residence 1891 • Christchurch, St Michael, Staffordshire, England Relation to Head of House: Son

It appears he was still living with his parents at age 27 as an agricultural labourer. But from 1891 onwards I lose sight of him.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Darren

Thank you so much for the information guys! It explains why I couldnt find a marriage for him or children. He was living with his sister and her family.

I don't know how you managed to find those records, but I need to work on my geneological skills as I was going around in circles all day on Ancestry and couldnt find him anywhere.

You are very welcome Darren. I started looking for William's sister Fanny and there was William with her.

I have searched Ancestry and Find My Past for the 1911 Census, but I can't find anything on William Baker and his sister Fanny Phillips and her family - nothing!! We will see if anybody else can find them for you.
