Wonder if anyone would know was there a special offer or deal going on aroud the year 1884-1888 for people to emmergrate to the USA from England?

Only asking as i've just been made aware that it is possible that a decendant may have gone between them years :?

Information i have is betsy Ann Phillips (nee Williamson) B: abt 1862 Staffordshire
William Phillips ( Miner) B:abt 1857 Normanton Yorkshire
married 12 Oct 1879 Wakefield.

have them on the 1881 census living at 94 St Johns terrace, Normanton, yorkshire

Now been told that they arrived in USA Dec 1884?

How would i find out? where would they get a boat from Liverpool? and how could i tell its them?
Alot of questions i Know but tbh i find it hard to even think that a miner could afford to go there at such a young age, or maybe i because if its true then its the first i've herd of any family member moving abroad :)

thanks Diane

You can see the 1900 census if you go to http://labs.familysearch.org/ and click on records search. Takes a while to load the search page but the image is very clear (and free :-) )
