Asylum help...Lincolnshire

Hi All,

apologises if this is in the wrong section.

My 2x great grandmother died in Rauceby Asylum(previously Kesteven Asylum) in 1918.

I have contacted Lincolnshire Archives who did some research, and the only mention of her they can find is her burial(which I already knew).

The Archive staff think that she may have been put in the Asylum as she was dying, but this doesn't seem correct to me, the Asylum was miles from her home(Oundle Road, Peterborough), and a hospital in central Peterborough would have been a lot nearer.

Also, her cause of death was ''exhaustion from mania'', so evidently she was in the correct place.

Does anyone have any idea where else to try, what else I can do? I'm at a total loss...

Her name was Eliza Jane Reedman(nee Hills) 1875-1918 known as Jennie

Thanks in advance

Hi. Looking at the National Archives lists it seems that the Lincolnshire archives should hold everything for that facility. I can't tell how thorough their search was...or even if they are allowed to search potentially sensitive material
One record at Sheffield made me think though. Is it possible that she would have been transferred there in the War? They seem to have taken Asylums for use as military hospitals and crammed the original patients into other places.
I only glanced at it but there is a long article here https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source= ... Lc7rYnjdLX
Other than that I'm out of ideas

this is the only one i can see born in 1875, i assume you have the death certificate, whether her medical record or other notes exist still will be very unlikely
