William Ewart Hadley about 1898 K.I.A.

Ewart Hadley was the son of William and Annie Hadley of 104 Long Lane, Blackheath and the nephew of Councillor George Hadley JP. He enlisted in the 9th (Service) Battalion of the Black Watch in the 15th (Scottish) Division which took part in the second phase of the 1916 Battle of the Somme. Ewart Hadley was 18 years of age and is commemorated on the Loos, Blackheath and Halesowen Memorials.
