Jo, I've added John Smitheman & Emily Wells.
However I'm so confused who his parents are with all the names changes and don't know how best to add to bcc.

Surnames change from Smitheman/Smitherman/Smitheyman.

Looking into family on ancestry, I'm unsure if Mother is Mary or Maria.
I've also looked on freereg and Gro and can't find any births for her and Stephen.

And West Midland BMD there's a Mary and Maria born 1860.

Stephen's parents were Stephen Smithyman and Amelia nee Hall. Maria's parents were John Smithyman and Mary Sophia nee Marsh.

Stephen and Amelia were married at St. Thomas's Church, Dudley in 1851. They lived at Tipton in 1861 and 1871 then moved to Wednesbury. They had 11 children.

John and Mary Sophia were also married at St. Thomas's Church, Dudley in 1859. They lived in Dudley in 1861, 1871 and 1881 and then Mary Sophia moved to Tipton. They had 10 children.

The spelling of the Smithyman name has multiple variants - Smithyman, Smitheyman, Smitheman, Smitherman, Smytheman, Smithimon, Smithman, Smytherman, Smithiman etc. etc. It doesn't help that there are several intermarriages between the various Smithyman lines (my 3x great grandfather Edward Smithyman was the result of a Smithyman x Smithyman marriage).

If you want details of baptisms, marriages, burials and census returns for the families of Stephen and Amelia and John and Mary Sophia, let me know.
