Hope I’m posting in the right place, sorry if not :?

I’m looking for twins born and died as babies/children

Father John Henry Willetts b a t 1875 Dudley
Mother Nellie Josephine Brassington b 3/12/1877 Dudley
Ch on BCC
George abt 1900
Nellie abt 1902
John Thomas abt 1905
Alice abt 1911
Florence abt 1915
Joseph Brassington 1916

There’s a gap between John Thomas and Alice, wonder if they were born here and missed the 1901 and 1911 census.
Is there a way of finding out pls?
Is the census the only way of finding out what children one’s had?

Thank you

In 1911 they had 5 children born 4 living 1 died

What makes you think there were twins?

There is this

WILLETTS, ALICE MAY BRASSINGTON
GRO Reference: 1904 M Quarter in DUDLEY Volume 06C Page 112

Possibly the same ?
Deaths Mar 1904
WILLETTS Alice Mary 0 Dudley 6c 66

Thnk you, another puzzle piece

An Aunt said that’s what she heard as she was growing up.

Alice Mary/May could have had a stillborn twin. There would have been no record for that child but still twins would have been born

Oh that’s interesting. When did they start recording them?

Is the census the only way of finding out what children they had?

Thank you

https://www.rootschat.com/links/0di7/ links to a 1926 Act that includes registering of still births, so by then at least. That replaced the 1901 Act - I don't know if that mentioned stillbirths
A stillbirth would not be included on the index of births that we can search at least. The ones registered after 1926 can be applied for, but I think applicants need to explain why they want the certificate.

If you log on here https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/cert ... search.asp you can search the birth index and pick out children with the surname and mother's maiden name that you are interested in. It is a bit tedious to do because you have to choose either male or female, and then can only search a particular year +/- 2, but if you do it systematically then you should (barring errors) get all the children born. The 1901 census is a guide, but not totally reliable!

Could it also be miscarried? There is a big gap. :?
I think kdw found a possible birth and possible death.
Perhaps order a birth and death fro GRO to check?
