Joseph Taylor birth date--

In 2019 I raised a query about Joseph Taylor's birth date based on the Family Bible. In the process two possible dates of death were found:GRO 1841 S Quarter Bromsgrove Union Volume 18 page 155 and 1842 M Quarter Volume 18 page 16. I have just been looking on Ancestry for new hints and found Worcestershire, England, Church of England Deaths and Burials 1813-1918 among them. It has Joseph Taylor buried 18th March 1842 at Stoke Prior with his address as Woodgate. This is the correct address but it quotes Joseph's death age as 58 with a birth date of 1784 - will this have been an estimate? The writing in the Bible could easily be 1783 (original in the 2019 post). As the records are now available could anyone locate the 1841 death to rule it out as with a name like Joseph Taylor there might have been two people with that name living in Woodgate?

I wouldn't worry about 1 year depends on the month of birth.

Currently Connection has Joseph's birth date as 4th April 1782, myself and other family members have baptism on 8th August 1786 at Belbroughton which does make sense as there are family connections there although Joseph himself lived at Stoke Prior. Both are possibly two years adrift depending on date of birth quoted on the burial record. The burial pre dates both these birth dates.

I will sticky this for Grangers 14 who owns Black country connections to see and decide what
she wishes to do.

Thank you. I have had another look at the Family Bible and can see 4th April on the entry, it's just the year that has been altered and is difficult to read but looks like a 2 changed to possibly a 3 so perhaps Connection rather than Ancestry correct. The Bible entry is available in the Archived Topics dated Tuesday January 29th 2019

On BCC Joseph's date of birth and death is as about and I don't think it can be anything else.
There is two deaths recorded one in 1841 and the other in 1842. Unless you buy a death certificate and rule one out?

The Worcestershire burial records that have appeared on my Ancestry Tree are for a Joseph Taylor buried March 18th 1842 age listed as 58, address Woodgate Stoke Prior. This is the correct address for Joseph backed up by the 1841 Census. Joseph wrote his Will in the summer of 1841 - from memory August I think, unable to check at the moment, so the death must be after this date.

I don't know how feasible having a baptism ten months after the birth is but I have just seen a Joseph Taylor baptised 2nd February 1783 at Elmbridge. The source (via Ancestry hints) is the Transcript of the Chapelry of Elmbridge in Worcestershire, England Church of England Baptisms Marriages and Burials 1629-1812. Looking on the map Elmbridge isn't too far from Stoke Prior. Of interest is the parent's names, William and Mary. Amongst the books I inherited I have a religious book in which is written November ?th 1806 then died William Taylor of Ombersley. Thomas Taylor his book 1806. Nathaniel Taylor his book December 26th 1846. I don't know why the name is Nathaniel but it is one of Nathan Taylor 's books, I have never sources the other names but wonder if William was his grandfather and Thomas a sibling or cousin of Joseph. This might make the William Taylor on Ancestry feasible

I should have looked for age, thank you Jimmy!

Not all children were Christened or Baptised and some, years after birth...

This looks like Grangers 14 has answered re Bcc.

So will move to archived if all done.

I am going to purchase the 1842 death certificate to sywhat it says. If it is the correct one there would be an age discrepancy with the age 60 currently on BCC.

Ok It would still be up to Grangers 14 if she wishes to amend it on Bcc.
The wording "about" allows for a date of birth which maybe 1 / 2//3 years out.
Without an actual date of birth on a birth certificate or noted in a baptism it has to suffice as "about".

I will move to archived and when you get the certificate you could always pm Grangers to discuss
or this topic can be brought back.
