Hi everyone, just found this forum via the Black Country Connections page. My mum started the family history quite a while ago and I have now got hooked. As she had taken one line back to the 1700s,I thought I would start my husband's family tree. As they are all Black Country based, surely it would be easy??.....OK, I was wrong. The main names are Hyde / Hickman / Hampton, living in Dudley, Brierley Hill, Stourbridge, Cradley Heath. So far, Hampton is good as I found a link quite easily on the Connections site (Eleanor Hampton,1852). Hyde and Hickman are proving a bit more problematic. I feel a visit to the Dudley Records Office coming on but it is quite a trek from Yorkshire. It's good to know that I am not the only one getting square eyes from looking at the computer screen. Thanks.
