I found a paper which shows that a great uncle of mine started work at the Great Western Railway as a clerk in the accountant's department at a salary of 20. I'm trying to fathom what the units would be. Is it 20s a week?

Thx

Parliament.co.uk says the average annual wage in 1908 was 70 pounds, if that helps.
