Which is the best value on-line database search site

Hi Group,
I set about tracing back my father's line a few years back, I thought it would be easy as our surname is quite rare (Guinney) I stopped when I got back as far as my great grandfather who was illiterate and he and my grandfather had a different spelling of the surname than is used today. My grandfather's birth certificate shows his name spelt Guinne. Guinne and Guinney are both valid Irish (and bizarrely French) surnames but as I had no way of knowing whether my great-grandfather had it spelt correctly or whether my grandfather knew it to be wrong and corrected it on my fathers birth certificate - I gave up.
So why am I back on the case; because a branch of the family contacted me and asked what I know.
I set about resurrecting the information I had. At a point in the past I subscribed to one of the on-line search facilities and had printed copies of some census records. I am happy to pay a small amount to subscribe again but none of them came up with the results I have in my hand i.e. I have a printed copy of a census page and can see them there but when I search these on-line services they don't find it. So my question to you is - which is the best value on-line database search site?

All names could be transcribed wrong, either by the enumerator, transcriber or whoever helped fill out the form.
Ancestry you have the option to subscibe and also pay to view. I'm not sure on some others. Origins you have to subscribe to, I like that also.
If it is an unusual you could use "wild cards" to help find the person, that could be just using the first couple of letters and adding * Sometimes adding just the first names and spouses name can get a result but will mean going through lots of pages.
What full name and dates etc are you looking for?
Jo

also give us the names of nearby families on that census info as that is often a way
of finding them you may find somethimes that your family has been missed off completely
in the transcribed records
but the neighbour is there and when you click on the actual image yours is too

Like I said, the work I did on this was 20 years ago and although I have some surprising details I can't remember where I got the detail from.
Hugh GUINNE, b. 18?? (father of Joseph GUINNE)
Joseph GUINNE b.1843, lived in Mulliner Street, Little Bolton in 1869 (Married Mary Jane McGill or Magill on 26th June 1869)
Mary Jane GUINNEY nee McGill b.1842 or 1849 in Ireland later of Prospect Street, Little Bolton (died 1907?)
1891 census records show Joseph and Mary (surname spelt Guinnea) resident in Salford and having six children; Joseph b.1870 (married 1895), Margaret b.1872, Sarah b.1874 (married 1894), Ann Jane b.1876, Robert b.1882 and Samuel b.1885 (still alive in 1901).
Robert (GUINNE) born 11th September 1882 (have copy of his birth cert.) at 2, David Street, Salford; died 31st December 1931
