I'm trying to find out about my 3 x great grandmother Jane. She married William Skinner in Aberdeen on 16.02.1855 and is noted as being a Widow, aged 30 her name being Jane Thom. Her parents are noted as being Peter and Margaret (with no Maiden name). I can't make out Peter's surname on the certificate so I can't figure out Jane's birth name.

Peter looks like it could be McCombie but William's mum's maiden name is also McCombie? I can't upload the Marriage Certificate unfortunately but can anyone offer any help as to how I can find out more information about Jane?

Thanks

Do you have Jane on census? Does it says where she was born?
Did she have any children the birth would show maiden name.

There is an intriguing entry on the 1861 Census for 5 Park Lane, Aberdeen St Nicholas:
William Skinner 31
Jane Sam 43 [Could this be "Same"?]
James Reid 13
Gardon Skinner 5
Susan Skinner 3

Two children under 6, and an older one with a different name ....

Is this still a Brickwall, or have you solved it?
