Berry Family Stumbling Block

Hi, I have been trying to trace my Husbands Great Grandfather. We have his marriage certificate which states his name as Thomas Berry and his Father as Francis Berry. Thomas married Ellen Sherfield July 1895 in Steyning in Sussex. The Census for 1901 shows them living in Hove with their sons Francis and Charles (Francis being my husband's Grandfather). Thomas is aged 33 and Ellen 28 in 1901, Thomas has listed his birthplace as Oxford, Oxfordshire. There is another census for 1891 where a Thomas Berry aged 23 is a lodger with an Alfred and Caroline Mason living in St Albans Hertfordshire. We believe this could be our Thomas as another census for 1891 shows Ellen Sherfield living in St Albans at the age of 19 (hence our thinking this is where they met).

My problem is I am struggling to find a Thomas Berry born 1868 in the Oxford (Chalgrove) listing. I have found a Thomas Berry from Bladon (father unknown) but through trial and error have discounted that. I also have found a Thomas James Berry from Woodstock and a Thomas John Berry from Banbury. Neither of which appear to have a Father named Francis.
I am struggling on how to move forward without mothers maiden name.
Any advice would be greatly received.
Debbie

Have you tried searching earlier census and checking Fathers occupation from marriage record too?
What was his occupation for both Thomas and Francis at the time of marriage?

Thank you for your replies and apologies for the late response.

The occupations of both I will check on the marriage certificate unfortunately I don't have a copy but can get hold of it.

The links to the Bladon family I have gone through and didn't get far with them

The Woodstock one again given that he lists his father as Francis Berry and gives his place of birth as Charlgrove or Oxford but it is something I will look at again as I did explore this avenue but if my memory serves me right this Thomas I found married to someone completely different.

Thank you for your help. I will keep trying
