Suki, have you taken these from the IGI? I noticed that the Halesowen one is the only extracted record, the St Giles one is a member submitted, so just someone's take on the event rather than an actual Parish Entry. HTH Linell.

Rite I have done the look ups and it is a weird one this
The St Giles one at RR is the correct one here/based on area living in 1841 ie Shepherds fold
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... onnectionsnow how many rosannah and Richard Willetts in 1838 with son Sampson can there be!
I have checked the Halesowen one and will add details to the notes for that Sampson
but why did they then bapt Samson twice once in 1838 at St Giles
and then again at St Johns Halesowen and the addy for the H'owen one is Blackheath and he is a nailer
is Shepherds fold near Black heath ( w'out me getting the map out)
was he bapt twice?
cant be that they moved as in 1841 he is at Shepherds Fold
15 April 1838 St Johns Halesowen
Richard and Rosannah Willetts
Blackheath nailer

I have come across that before with my Clee's in Kidder, could be they didn't like the first christening.
1851. as with parents Richerd and Rosannah, in Rowley Regis.
Samuel Willetts. abt 1832.
David Willetts. abt 1835.
Sampson Willetts. abt 1839.Elizabeth Willetts. abt 1841.
Sarah Willetts. abt 1843.
Ellen Willetts. abt 1846.
Edward Willetts. abt 1848.

I have read somewhere of two different reasons for having a child baptised twice.
1) It seems sickly at birth and they doubt it will live so there is a rushed private one followed by a public one. Sometiems they write Private on the first.
2) They take the child back to their home parish ie where they were born/baptised and have them "done" again there.
Anyone heard of any other reasons?

Shepherds Fold is sometimes down as Blackheath in records also later Ross or New Ross. I fined this a bit of a strange as the dates are so close together would have expected them he other way round - some of their other children baptised at Halesowen.
