Contemplating research again- advice please

Post by Carol »

Hello once again, I'm returning to dip my toe in the water and hopefully pick some brains.
I'm down in Dorset but thinking of doing some professional family history research again. I'm out of touch with it all and was wondering a few things.
Do people stil use professional researchers much or is nearly everyone doing their own on line?
If you have used a researcher, where would you look for one- would it always be a google search for a web site these days? (as you can see I'm from the stone ages)
If you have used a professional research recently to look up things what rates have they charged?

Much appreciate any feedback as just contemplating if this would work.
Thanks
Carol
