Frank Baker 1889.Harry Hill?

Post by Mabel »

My great-grandfather George Baker 1886 had a brother called Frank.
Can he be added to connections.

Their father James died young and left 3 and 4 Bank Street to the two boys when they were teenagers.
Frank did not live at no 4 I think he must have rented it to his sister Annie and husband and Jo Davies.
There children were Gwendoline and Robert Davies. They could also go on. See 1881,91,1901 and 1911 census.
I notice that John and Nancy Nancy, Lois Appleby live at 1 Bank Street. (Re enforces there connection with Bakers).
My father mentions his mothers brother Harry Hill in some memoirs he wrote but I have not been able to find him on any census, dad remembers him for getting drunk and breaking the windows in Bank Street. Grandma Lizzie Hill came from Netherton -Darby End. In 1891 Samuel Hill and Elizabeth and family lived at no 4 Bank Street but a can't connect them to Lizzie. The house may have been let to them or they may be relatives of the Bakers.
James Baker definitely had no 3 and 4 built. There was a chain shop at the back of these houses. Interestingly by father writes 'people crossed in front of our house between the brew house and the house over a paved way called the' fowed'-fold to get to no 4.
There was ONE WC for both houses built behind the brew house

Forget George E. Baker marriage above

This one ties up with one on bcc
HILL Lizzie BAKER George Dudley, St Andrew Dudley Register Office 205/012/338 1908

But it is 1908 and not 1907 and reverse of marriage George to Lizzie also shows 1908

Is the Harry Baker on 1939 son born 1914 and is a wrong transcript shown as born 12/4/1874 and should be 12/4/1914

Its Harry Baker 1914, dad's brother. Joseph Brettell married my mother Mabel Willetts's sister Hannah Willetts they move in to 4 Bank Street in the 30's that's how mom and dad met when she went to visit her sister. I'm still looking for Harry Hill Lizzie's brother. Have a postcard picture signed H Hill so he must exist. Looks like another brick wall.

This might be a silly question but could he have been Henry Hill?

My father wrote when uncle Harry paid us a visit..............my mother who was his sister. I think it must be William Hill on 91 and 01 census 92 Reddall Hill Rd. Found two more siblings Florrie10 and John 8(01cen). Short for William Henry. In 01 Lizzie was in service as a ladies maid. Think I have to give this one a rest. Thanks for putting Frank on BBC.

Mabel Willetts 22/05/1921 Hannah Willetts 1910ish there is an eleven year gap between Hannah and Mabel. Other siblings Edward Benjamin Samuel John and Joseph.Parents Edward and Mabel Willetts b.1880. Sorry no date of birth on Harry Hill. Now believe Lizzie Hill was in service 1901 cen. 22 23 Cole Street, for Charles and Eliza Read Breeze burner. Other servants Loiuse Warrall, Ellen Westwood. This Lizzie born Netherton , other Lizzie Rowley Regis. Date fits better. Bit worried about accuracy of my Hill tree that's why I am checking. Bakers seem OK. Hills annoyingly difficult. Grandma was very proud she had been in service.
