I'm back researching after a break and recently went to Dudley archives. I have the above mentioned attributed to me on BCC. On finding the marriage certificate, I discovered Elizabeth's father is Henry ,a carter, not Samuel. They married at St Andrews parish church Netherton on August 28 1870 aged 19, making their D.O.B.'s c1852. Cert no. Is 372.witnesses Thomas Wooton? & Matilda Duffield. Matilda's mother is Hannah Bloomer, sister of Harriet Bloomer, Elizabeth Priests mother.
In the 1871 census they are living in New Road Quarry Bank, in 1881, Quarry Bank Rd, in 1891 Halesowen Road. William dies between this census and his daughter Hannah's wedding on 1st December 1895.
I have Elizabeth, surname "Holner" ,living in Terrace St., Blackheath with children William, Mary & Walter Newton. No husband recorded on the 1901 census.
Elizabeth Priests father Henry is recorded as William Henry Priest when baptised on 23rd Sep 1827 & is recorded as William Henry on the 1841 census, but Henry thereafter.
Hope this helps unravel some of the confision these two names cause!
It's good to be back! Regards to any who remember me.
