Hi,
After being contacted by another researcher, I had another look at Joseph Harold Fendall's record on BCC and found some information that adds to the belief that the early report posted on the above link, about a 'Swindler'
apprehended in the USA, does indeed relate to the son of Joseph Fendall and Ellen Parsons.
An online record of proceedings at the 'Old Bailey' confirms that a Harold Fendall (‘Ironmonger’) was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment in Wormwood Scrubs in 1906, and though this Harold Fendall claimed to have been born in Surrey, in 1874, the details shown in the transcript of the trial provide evidence that, without doubt, he was the ‘husband’ of Ethel Jane Hodgkins and thus the son of Joseph and Ellen. For example, character witnesses were a Thomas Hadley, of Netherton, and Edward Charrett, of Old Hill, who confirmed that he had been ‘brought up’ in Staffordshire and resided there prior to going to London.
Hope this is helpful
