yatt wrote:Hello,
I'm searching the surnames HATTON and WOODHOUSE from Oldswinford and wondering if anyone can help!
My Great, Great Grandparents were Samuel Josiah TOMBS (b.1849 Cheltenham) and Mary WOODHOUSE (b.1849 Lye).
They appear in the 1871 Census living with Mary's parents Thomas and Priscilla WOODHOUSE in Dudley.
Thomas WOODHOUSE Priscailla HATTON married in Dudley in 1845, fathers Joseph WOODHOUSE and Benjamin HATTON.
I have followed these two families back though the various Census documents.
It would appear that Thomas's parents were Joseph WOODHOUSE (b.1791) and Mary (b.1791).
I spotted a few past discussions about the Woodhouse family. In particular the link that takes them back to Wombourne.
Has anyone had any luck here?
Cheers,
Matt

I have this note against the early Woodhouses - From 'Pedigree of Woodhouse' compiled by Norroy King of Arms:
"the Pedigree down to this John has been copied from Shaw's 'History of Staffordshire'; from his son, Stephen Woodhouse, downwards, the descent has been recorded in Herald's College."
