I believe Esther Hughes 1769 included on Black Country Connections ( by Lavy ) who married William Hodgett 4 Feb 1788 may be an aunt of Alexander Hughes 1785-1848, my 3 X Grt Grandfather.
From information received but not all checked. Her Parents would then be :
Thomas Hughes 1730 (5 x Grt Gf) bapt 17 April 1730 Gornal Woods Sedgley, M 23 jan 1751 Sedgley, Spouse Elizabeth Williams C 1730. IGI A22789-2, code 1 film 459141. Pedigree resource file Chr 19 April 1730 Gornal Wood Sedgley,Father Joseph, Mother Sarah.
Esthers siblings :

I can't see a bapt for Esther on IGI which isnt member submitted.
so the member submitted one there would have to be confirmed in Prs.
22 January 1769
Sedgley,Stafford,England
parents thomas and elizabeth

Same with the others above
a Joseph with father Thomas seems to be on the odm ones.
the others seem to be member submitted so would need to be verified.

I've been looking for these baptisms on FreeREG with only the first 2 children Sarah and Joseph being on there. I've looked at the old FreeREG web site and found all the baptisms for all the other children!

Baptism: 3 May 1752 All Saints, Sedgley On both
Sarah - Parents: Thomas & Elizabeth Hughes - Abode: Gornalwood (No father's occ)

Baptism: 14 April 1754 All Saints, Sedgley On both

Baptism: 22 August 1756 All Saints, Sedgley
James - Parents: Thomas & Elizabeth Hughes - Abode: Gornalwood (No father's occ)

Baptism: 20 May 1759 All Saints, Sedgley
Mary - Parents: Thomas & Elizabeth Hughes - Abode: Gornalwood (No father's occ)

Thomas - Parents: Thomas & Elizabeth Hughes - Abode: Gornalwood (No father's occ)

Baptism: 12 February 1764 All Saints, Sedgley
Isaac - Parents: Thomas & Elizabeth Hughes - Abode: Gornalwood (No father's occ)

Baptism: 15 September 1776 All Saints, Sedgley
Elizabeth - Parents: Thomas & Elizabeth Hughes - Abode: Gornalwood (No father's occ)

I have written quite a strong email to them explaining the details and will let you know the outcome. These old records should have been transferred over to the new FreeREG2. I am now having second thoughts on doing anymore volunteer work for them - I'm livid!!!!

Getting off my soap box now

appear to be having some problems with computer and would also admit to be short on basic knowledge.

which is the Old FreeREG web site referred to by B C Wench
what is the difference between System Original England ODM and England EASY on familysearch.org.

I note your new thread on James Hughes 1756 and while looking on family search historical records found a marriage:
James Hughes to Mary Taylor 05 NOv 1777
Indexing Project (Batch) Number M 00998-3
GS Film Number 421588
the page was buffering but I think the details I have given are correct, hope this may help.

The old FreeREG which is called FreeREG1 here is the link

http://freereg1.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl

The new one which is classed as FreeREG 2 is here

http://www.freereg.org.uk/

Sorry, I can't help with the question re Familysearch, but somebody else will on this site.

Strange, but that marriage you found on familysearch has James's wife as Mary Taylor:-

Name James Hughes
Spouse's Name Mary Taylor
Event Date 05 Nov 1777
Event Place Sedgley,Stafford,England

whereas FreeREG1 (this isn't on FreeREG2) has:-

Marriage: 5 November 1777 All Saints, Sedgley. Register No: 179
James Hughes, Bachelor otp (of this Parish)
Mary Collins, Spinster otp (of this Parish)
Wit: Thomas Walthan, Richard Hay
Notes Bride and Groom sign (X). Witnesses sign the register.

This marriage will need to be checked out in the Parish Register.

Easy I think is member submitted entry
Odm is more reliable and is transcribed by someone from Prs or other records.
to be sure still need to check yourself any marriage.

I will add that James info to thread.

are we done with esther Hughes now?
if not I can move to brickwalls.

I have had the list of Esther's siblings for some time but as usual was finding the connection to my ancestors difficult.
Have looked from time to time on BCC and it was only when Esther and James more recently appeared that I felt there was some connection.
I feel that the following are now more clearly established which was my main purpose of going further back.
Thomas Hughes 1761 and Ann 4 X Gt Grand parents
Thomas Hughes 1730 and Elizabeth 5 X Gt Grand Parents
Joseph Hughes 1704 and Sarah 6 X Gt Grand Parents

This thread is now completed, Many thanks.
