He was tried for burglary and stealing in 1896,1901,1900,1903,1906,1909,1911 and 1912

but it looks like he Attested to South Staffs. Regiment in January 1902 no.6680

In 21/7 1896 Luther Charles 12 born 1884 was tried at Stafford Court with his brother Isaac Charles and pleaded guilty of 2nd count receiving and his father entered into recognizances of £5 for him to come up for judgement if called upon , Victims name Ellen Billingham
Isaac Charles Shoemaker had previous record :-
18/3/1891 Old Hill Travelling on Railway without paying fare fined 20s and costs
1/4/1891 Old Hill Stealing 4s sent to industrial School
on this occasion
30/5/1896 Rowley Regis Burglariously breaking and entering the dwelling hose of Ellen Billingham and stealing £2 16s 0d pleaded guilty and sentenced to 2 calendar months hard labourer

on 2) 10/5/1903 Feloniously did break & enter the house of Florence Emily Gardner and therein did feloniously steal 1 metal watch, 1 metal chain,8ozs. sausages & two Tame Fowl's eggs the goods and chattels of said Florence Emily Gardener
Pleaded Guilty sentenced 3 years Penal Servitude to run concurrently with indictment 1)

2) 13.5.1912 at Great Barr Burglariously breaking and entering house of Linnaus Middleton and stealing therein 1 pint bottle Whiskey ,8 ozs. cheese,8 ozs. butter, & other articles his goods and chattels

He was a Coal Miner in 1901 and a Coal Hewer and Loader in 1911, perhaps when he left school?
