I saw that one but he was not a chain maker.

He changed occupation or transcribed wrongly

I think RF is right
I will check some of my records as Elizabeth Adams was daughter of either Mary Saint or her sister Elizabeth Saint
Connection to me is that brother of Elizabeth and Mary, James Saint married Martha Harris and when he died Martha Saint (nee Harris) married Joseph Brookes my great grandfather

William Adams is on 1911 as widower married 31 years
possible marriage St. Edmunds 1881 to a Mary Walker looks likely

1881 Census is a mess ref. relationships and whether married or not

I think 1881 Census should show Mary Adams 20 as married to William Adams
and Mary Walker boarder 9 should be 9 mths.

It is a bit. I think the 1871 census says William A S Adams and wondered if he was illegitimate, but that doesn't seem likely
