I was given some details on this family 1851 Peartree Street Old Hill:-

John Russ 25
Sarah Russ 25 Wife
Sarah Poole 55 Mother In Law
Andrew Poole 8 Nephew

Their place of birth looks like Gloucestershire?

Andrew Poole I have traced up to 1901, he Marries a Louisa Jones Halesowen 1862. Their daughter Esther Poole Marries Mark Frederick Leedham. It is not his future I am looking into rather his family roots.

It is really the Russ connection that I am flagging, we have some Russ's already on BCC from Peartree Street, somehow this family fit in. Would like to find out who this Russ family are, and if Sarah Poole is 8 year old Andrew's Mother?

Another connection is Gorsty Hill, Andrew and his family later lived in Gorsty Hill, so did some of the Willetts and Priests we have already traced from Peartree Street. At a guess I would think it was something to do with working on the Canal up there?

Cheers Jimmy, that's really helpful. So it looks as though Sarah Poole Married John Russ in 1846, her Parents were probably Andrew Poole and Sarah Davenport Married 1815, and the Andrew Poole aged 8 in 1851 must be son of one of the two Sarah's? Something to work on, many thanks from Linell.

Could Andrew be Josiah Andrew Poole bapt St Thos 12 sept 1841 parents Richard and Ann Pool?

Richard and Ann are in the 1841 census aged 20, with daughter Asanath bapt St Thos 13 sept 1840.

Richard would be sarah's brother ie bpt 1819 St Thos, parents Andrew and Sarah. And that would make (Josiah) Andrew the nephew of Joh Russ.

Although andrew is 8 in 1851 census he seems to be born in 1841 in the 1881 and 1891 census so that seems to work. Suppose you need his marriage details really to get his father.

Can't see Richard, Ann or any of their other children in 1851 though : Asanath 1840; Andrew 1841; Richard 1844; and Ann 1847

John's pob is Gloucestershire, parish of Bristol, and the others are all Worcestershire, parish of (I suppose) Dudley

Mary Ann 1858 (This family is on Connections, but we have two Mary's listed one born 1858 and a Mary Ann born 1860, are they the same Mary, only one on Census?) Mary Ann born 1860 and Phoebe born 1866, can't be children of Robert and Maria as Robert died 1858 )

We know from a Marriage Look Up that Robert's father was John Russ. I found a submitted baptism for Robert 1830 and John 1825 (this is the John that Married Sarah Poole) in Siston Gloucestershire, to a John and Mary.

I think John and Mary from Siston Gloucs are the parents of John who Married Sarah Poole and Robert who Married Maria Priest. Can someone have a look at this please, as we could make another connection with the Poole family. Linell.
