On the 29th September 1939 a Survey Nicknamed 'The UK's Instant Census' took place. The findings were used to issue Ration Cards and Identity Cards. The details requested were:-
Name Sex Age Occupation Address Marital Status

Individual Returns for England and Wales are now being digitised and are expected to be released next month containing 40 Million entries. They are highly valuable as they plug a 30 year gap between the 1921 and 1951 Census. The 1931 Census was destroyed in a Fire and there was no 1941 Census because of WW2. The National Register formed the basis for the NHS founded in 1948. The 1921 Census will be released in 2022.

It is still on the 100 year rule as the 1911 census so not much info unless you have proof the person has died we all have rels still alive on that -still better than nought

Anyone born after 1915 will be redacted from the Search. Don't know about you Rocky, but I know the history of most of my Relatives born after 1915, it is the older generations who died before I was born that interest me. Linell.

Still worth having unfortunately you have to pay a premium for it at first like 2011census - they are still trying to finish Staffordshire as well ,only part done may be next year sometime

If what I've read is accurate FMP have the contract for this project so those who use Ancestry will either have to stump up an FMP subscription as well or rely on free days or friends for access.
