NL, the date I have (although unconfirmed) is 1822, born Upton Warren Worcs.

I also posted the info below on the brick wall you so kindly helped me with:

I have the 1881 info where William is married to Mary who I believe to be Mary Dawes (wife number 3), I believe his first wife was Elizabeth Keen (1821-1868) who is the mother of Ellen and Sarah (b 1855 and 1857 respectively). I believe it is Emma Hollis 1844 - 1877 (wife number 2) that is the mother of Mark and Benj, that is if my research is correct.

also how do we know he marries an Elizabeth Keen in 1845....as there are other names on that one too

Bromsgrove ....could that be Quinton or Clent if so would then be on Ancestry ....cant remember where quinton is shown..

then we can check that marriage...

I have contacted the Hive at worcs ....just got an auto response and think their charges are same as sending for certif.

Hi NL, sorry for the slow response but I've been a little busy.

I do have Marks birth certificate, but not the 1873 Mark, I have his son (my Gfather) 1899.

My supposition on the three possible marriages were only based on census and marriage records, not unfortunately certification. I traced William through his suspected marriages cemented by his offspring being on the same census as himself and his subsequent wives. I'm aware that these could be red herrings but because of the children I believe this tipped the balance of probability, Also, he was widowed prior to each of his marriages.

For some reason, I'm unable to access my tree on Ancestry as either they have a problem with their servers or my connection speed is too low at the moment to give me access so I cannot get the info on the deaths.

Steve does look like Emma hollis is mother to Mark ...birth certif would prove but costs.

And does look like he marries an Elizabeth Keen our Wm Tolley...but again need that marriage certif.


So do we think that Emma Hollies who marries in 1875 is dau of Elizabeth Hollies that Wm marries in 1854?

And how is Mark Tolley born in 1873 regis.........as born before parents married
so is he regis as a Hollies?
