I'm pretty confident that a Benjamin Loines ended up in Lancashire as did several of the" Loines/Loyns/Lines et al" people.
My grandfather recalled a Ben Loines working at one of the large estates there presumably as a coachman.

Thanks mallossa. It seems that in the mid nineteenth century there seems to have been more consistent approach to spelling the name Loines rather
than the earlier versions. I'm not quite sure why, perhaps a teacher influenced the spelling when people started to learn to read and write. My grandfather
maintained that one of his grandfathers ( and both his grandfathers were surnamed Loines, consequently his parents were first cousins) couldn't read or write properly.
I have been told that " Lines" would be pronounced " Loines" with a strong black country accent?
