Need help/advice with DAVIES/BEVAN/PRICE

My maternal grandfather is James Brown DAVIES (16 April 1902 - 1946), born in Saltcoats Scotland and died in Johannesburg South Africa. His parents were David DAVIES and Elizabeth BROWN or BOWEN.
I have James' birth certificate, which was found in births for 1902 in the district of Old Ardrossan in the County of Ayr, page 20 no. 58. David's occupation is listed as a bricklayer.
I believe that David was born 20 Oct. 1872 in Springburn, Lanark, Scotland. He had a brother Thomas, born in 1874 in Cambuslang, Scotland.
His father was Thomas DAVIES. His mother was Selina BEVAN or PRICE, married in Swansea (Wales) on 26 Feb 1866. I have no further information about them and nothing concrete turns up when I do a search on ancestry.co.uk.
Any suggestions/help appreciated.

Hi Evyn,
Do you have a copy of Thomas and Selina's marriage cert?
That should give fathers names and occupations, which may well help when trying to track them in the census.
It would also (hopefully) give their ages (although not necessarily 100% accurate, many people were known to lie about their age on certs! it would narrow the time frame!!) ....

No, and I can't find it. A gent by the name of Robert Fenwick in Scotland mentioned that he saw this fact on David's birth registration, but I myself have not found this document, or even seen it.

Unfortunately with them not stating the exact place of birth on the adults in the later census I can't find themat the moment in the early census to be able to find theire respective parents.
