Thomas Talbot (1745 - ?) married Parthenia Gill (29/7/1753) during 1772.

Children: -

Thomas - C: 21/2/1768 at Kingswinford, Staffordshire C05373-2 GS FILM: 417203
Richard - C: 11/2/1770 at Kingswinford, Staffordshire C05373-2 GS FILM: 417203
Edward - C: 3/1/1773 at Kingswinford, Staffordshire C05373-2 GS FILM: 417203

Then I also have come across: -

Benjamin - C: 30/3/1783 at Brierley Hill, Staffordshire C033921-1 GS FILM: 417175
Parthena - C: 9/7/1786 at Wellington, Shropshire C03752-2 GS FILM: 510681

Were the last two children related to the above three children?

Cannot find them on the Census 1881.

Where is this marriage supposed to have taken place?

There was certainly a Thomas and Parthenia Talbot baptising children in Brierley Hill/ Kingswinford in that period.

However, why do you think that the Parthenia Gill b1753 (d of Thomas Gill & Hannah Skidmore) isn't the one who married Thomas Bullas 7 June 1772 at Kingswinford - as far as I know she was ONLY Parthenia Gill born locally around that time?

My Auntie had researched/scribbled down on paper: -

Florella Herrin's mother Ann Smith (1837 - 1921)'s mother Eliza Talbot (20/9/1812)'s father, Richard Talbot (C: 11/2/1770) who married Sarah Taylor on 26/2/1792 at Kingswinford was the son of Thomas Talbot (1745) and Parthenia Gill (29/7/1753) with their marriage in Kingswinford during 1772.

Last night I decided to look up for more information re the children from Thomas Talbot & Parthenia Gill plus their ancestors including Thomas Gill and Hannah Skidmore, etc., coming across those before alarm bells sounded off when I noticed one of them was born in Wellington, Shropshire hence my query to whether the last two children Benjamin and Parthena were actually children belonging to Thomas and Parthenia Talbot.

Waltzer it is difficult tracing Ancestors before Civil Registration, as you need to research Parish Registers. There were dozens of Churches and Chapels in and around Cradley, Old Swinford and Kingswinford, Brierley Hill runs around Kingswinford. Some families used different Churches, not all their children may have been Christened or Baptised in the same Church. The Talbots may have originated in Shropshire, a lot of families migrated from there to live and work in the Black Country. Parthena could have been Christened in Wellington, maybe her family were visiting Grandparents or siblings. You have Thomas Talbot born 4 Years before the Wedding and Richard born 2 years before your Marriage date of 1772, not uncommon but you need to check that out in the Parish Register.

Yes, I agree it is difficult tracing ancestors, especially common names like Thomas Hill, etc but Parthenia Gill isn't a common name.

In another post it was accepted that John Thomas couldn't be the son of Thomas and Phoebe because he was baptised in Leicester so this is why I'm querying whether Benjamin and Parthena were Thomas Talbot and Parthenia Gill's children as they were born in different places from Kingswinford. Yes, they could have moved house due to work, etc but still no harm in asking...

I feel as if I have done something wrong with asking/querying to ensure whether I'm on the right track or not as I thought that what this forum was for?

I have got an orange book of Registers of Cradley Chapel, Worcestershire (Now St. Peter's Parish Church, Cradley) 1785 - 1839. Is that the one you mean?

I have found two other children (both with parents Thomas & Parthenia Talbot):

Sarah, bapt 30 Apr 1780, Aston Juxta Birmingham
Abraham, bapt 7 May 1775, Cobham, Surrey

Now, it is possible that these, and the ones you found in Kingswinford and Shropshire, are all children of the same couple (the dates fit, and as you say, there weren't all that many Parthenia's!) and they were simply moving around for whatever reason (probably employment). Proving it is another matter....

I don't think the mother is Parthenia Gill though - I am certain she married Thomas Bullas in Kingswinford in 1772 (not Thomas Talbot) and Thomas Bullas and Parthenia had children born following their marriage, in Kingswinford (and later Brierley Hill), down to around 1787.

Yes they are transcripts of the Parish Register. You can buy them for most Churches, either on CD or in a Book. Some are Indexed by name which is a big help. You can view the original Registers at any Local Archive, usually on Fiche or Film.

There is a Baptism for a Parthena Talbot 22.10.1797 at Park Lane Chapel Cradley to Richard and Sarah Talbot lived near Cradley Forge. Just wondered if Richard was the one above son of Thomas and Parthena?

Yes exactly as Jo and Mallosa say just ask away Waltzer. I would forget about spouses Sarah Hill and Parthena Gill at the moment think it is confusing you, just put Benjamin Hodgetts Married Sarah ? Also Thomas Talbot Married Parthenia ?
