Shame that we passed V E day un nocied by most media. I hope the beacons will be shown rather than political disagreements this evening.

I watched the VE Day 70 a party to remember. I enjoyed it very much till I listened to Jane Horrocks reading a soldier's letter to his mom . It tore my heart apart and when Jane started to cry ,I cried my heart out too for the young men that were so brave and never came home

We'll never know for certain but Jane Horrocks is an actor and the cynic in me tells me she was only acting. The tears came on cue at the end of the letter.Of course it was sad but she wouldn't have been reading that letter for the first time. Sorry Lizzie.How's your cold?

Still very upsetting to listen . Still got my cold , hurting now down the side of my face. Hate colds .

I haven't seen the clip but maybe it's more to do with her being a consummate professional whose job was to read the letter, having done that job she relaxed and her natural emotions took over.
