ARC TBC...Marriage - St Edmunds 1884 for BCB --

Hello again, haven't had to request a look-up for a long time, but I have a query with one of my Gt Gt Grandfathers weddings. :?:

I have the marriage entry from Dudley registry Office for this wedding taken place on
St Edmunds Dudley August 27th 1884 -
Henry Richard Taylor, 41, Widower, Horse Nail Maker, Father's name = William Taylor.
Jane Harrington, 40, Widow, ----------- , Father's name is written as Joseph "Spitton" Blacksmith.
Witnesses = Benjamin Dudley and Sophia Scriven.

I have a theory that the father's name has been written down incorrectly. It could possibly be "Spittle" as there was a Joseph Spittle working as a journeyman Blacksmith in the Black Country at the right time who also had a daughter named Jane. Could somebody check the spelling of the names on the Parish register entry for me please?

Kind Regards - Adrian

Hi BCB have looked at the entry and it does say Spitton but I think like yourself this is an error

It looks like Jane Spittle married 1st Thomas Brazier...I will add these marriages to Bcc tomoz.

then she marries Luke Everington I think...in 1881

then that is either heard as Harrington for her 3rd marriage in 1884 to Henry Taylor

Good Grief NL - how complicated do you want to make this marriage

So, Jane Spittle/Brazier/Everington/Harrington had quite an unlucky time with her husbands... my Gt Gt Grandad Henry Richard was dead himself in 1888. On his son John's marriage to Esther Willetts in 1888, his father Henry is listed as deceased! Was she a serial killer? :o

Three husbands (so far), weddings in three different churches, so many variations on name spellings and she can't even decide where she was born... Cradley, Stourbridge, Brockmoor, Oldswinford, Kingswinford.... doncha just love family history
