From a tree on ancestry
According to Black Country Bugle article, Mary was married 3 times but it does not say who third husband was. He was a salvation army man and bought back copies of the 'Young Soldier' for the family to read. Up to that point Mary had been illiterate, but she taught herself to read and write by using the magazine. Mary outlived all her husbands, but joked that if it wasn't for the fact she was confined to a wheelchair in later years, she would have found herself another! She ruled her sons and daughters with a rod of iron, but was softer with her grandchildren.
