My great grandfather (Thomas Steventon) was "Works Policeman" or "Gate Keeper" for A&P. Not sure of the dates when he did this, that's still part of my list of things to find out about him! Attached is a photo of him in his Works Policeman's uniform for A&P. Would be curious to know if anyone remembers him (good or bad!
) or can tell me how I would go about finding out more about the time he spent at A&P.
I do know that he lived in a property owned by A&P - Whiteheath Villa. This was compulsory purchased by the council so they could knock it down and make way for Lion Farm housing estate.
