Hi All,

Looking for some help, please.

An IGI record shows that Emma Parsons and Joseph Fendall were married in the Church of Lower Gornal, Staffordshire on 1 October 1866. It also confirms that Joseph’s father was Frederick (transcribed as ‘Fride’) ‘Fendall’ and that Ellen’s father was Rueben Parsons; it shows the age of Joseph as 21 years and the age of Ellen as 20 years.
Joseph's father was the Frederick Feldon (aka Fendall/Fendal) who married Sarah Pearson in St Thomas' Church, Dudley on 21 March 1841.

I am trying to confirm/deny whether Ellen's father is the Reuben Parsons in the above BCC link : :? : .

Thank you

H.

Sorry for the mix up between Emma and Ellen; a typo error  .

I have all the Feldon/Fendal details (I hope) but will be glad to have them confirmed.

Is there any possibility of a look up for Joseph and Ellen's marriage to ascertain the occupation of Ellen's father, Reuben :?:

Thank you...H

Hi Nl,
I have added all Fendall records I have and have Connected Ellen Parsons to rest of Parsons family
as
a) I have eliminated all other Ellen Parsons born at same time
b) Location of Birth ties up
c) Family on Fendall and Parsons live at same location i.e. Club Buildings Rowley Regis at same time

only thing missing is 1871 Census for Joseph & Ellen and son Reuben
and marriage to confirm 100%

Reuben Fendall married a Mary Ann Homer in 1898 Holy Trinity
John Fendall married an Alice Hackett in St. Luke Cradley Heath in 1903
and I have not traced Alice or Mary Ann yet

Jan - thank you for initiating a look up. Mumbles seems convinced this is the right link for Ellen Parsons but a look up would (hopefully) definitely confirm.

Mumbles, regarding son, Henry Fendall, I think he is the one who married an Edith Harriett Rock in the March quarter of 1901; and that they had at least 3 children, Walter Eric (1902), Reginald (1904) and Harry Leslie (1907).
The National Probate Calendar shows Henry died in 65 Halesowen Road, Old Hill, Rowley Regis on 9 September 1940; the beneficiary of his estate (value £1294) was his widow. Edith died in the same address on 26 January 1962 and probate for her estate was granted to her son, Walter Eric, a ‘Company Director’.

The National Probate Calendar shows also shows that Reuben Fendall died in 24 Claremont Street, Old Hill, Rowley Regis on 15 June 1939. Executor and beneficiary of his estate was his brother, Henry (described as an ‘Ironmonger’).

I will look at my records and see what other relevant information I might have.

Thanks to all...............H  .

Further.......re Fendall family:

The 1901 census shows Ellen living in Claremont Street, Rowley Regis, next door to her son, Reuben, and his wife, Mary Ann; and a few houses away from her daughter, Mary Ann, and her husband, Benjamin Johnson (a ‘Blacksmith’). This supports Peter's record of the marriage of a Mary Ann Fendall.

At home with Ellen are John, a ‘Draper’s Assistant’, Joseph Harold, a ‘Nail Manufacturer – at home’ and Horace Clayton, a ‘Cabinet Maker’s Apprentice’.

Joseph Harold Fendall seems to have had a significant business, as Kelly’s 1900 Directory of Worcestershire lists him several times as a ‘Manufacturer of ‘Nails/Wall Ties/ Staples’ with an office in Claremont Street, Old Hill (the family address) and a warehouse in Hagley Street, Halesowen.

The 1911 census shows Ellen living with her son, Horace Clayton (‘Cabinet Maker’) in 55 Emily Street, West Bromwich, Staffordshire; however,The National Probate Calendar shows Horace Clayton died on 28 February 1917 in Plaskyfryd (Santarium), Abergele, Denbighshire, North Wales. Administration was granted to ‘Helen Fendall, widow’ but I believe that ‘Helen’ refers to his mother and not a wife :!: .

A BMD record was found which shows the death of Ellen (in the West Bromwich District 6b 834) in the March quarter of 1935, aged 88 years.
