You will recall in the now archived thread re James and Leah Harper, a few marriages for their children were suggested, one of which has been the subject of a look up. I have now been looking into one of the other suggestions; the marriage of Hannah Harper to a William Moore in St Thomas’ Church, Dudley on 21 September 1818.
On the Family Search site, records were found of the christenings of nine (9) children of a Hannah and William Moore. The first 4 children were christened in Cradley; Edward, on 17 October 1819, Eli, on 26 November 1820, Fanny, on 22 December 1822 and Mary Ann on 25 December 1825. The remaining 5 children were christened in the High Street Independent Chapel, Stourbridge (Old Swinford Parish); William Henry, on 6 April 1828, John, on 14 November 1830 (born on 5 October), Henrieten [Henrietta], on 18 August 1833 (born on 29 June), George, on 10 September 1835 (born on 5 August) and, Angelina, on 11 December 1836 (born on 10 September).
In the 1841 census a Hannah (transcribed as ‘Anna’) and William Moore were found living in Bell Lane, Stourbridge and William is described as a ‘Chain Maker’; living with them are eight (8) children, Edward (‘Glass Cutter’), Fanny, Mary, Henry, John, Henrietta, Angelina and Eliza (born in 1839).
The 1851 census shows Hannah and William (born in about 1794) still living in Bell Lane, Stourbridge and William is still described as a ‘Chain Maker’; the birthplace of both Hannah and William is clearly shown as Cradley, Worcestershire and the estimated year of birth of Hannah is shown as 1797
. Living at home are five 5 children, John (‘Chain Maker’), Angelina, Eliza, James (born in about 1843) and Louisa (born in 1845); two ‘visitors’ are also shown, a Thomas Bolt (‘Glass Painter’) and a George Cook (‘Plumber and Glazier’).
The Family Search site also provided a record which shows that Hannah and William and their family emigrated to the USA; an entry in the United States Census of 1860 shows them living in 3rd Ward Cambridge City, Middlesex, Massachusetts. The family comprises Hannah, William, Mary, Angelina, James and Louisa.
A further record on this site shows the death of Hannah in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on 7 October 1862, aged 65 years; helpfully, the record also identifies Hannah’s parents as James and Leah Harper.
An online family tree suggests that Angelina, the daughter of Hannah and William, died in Boston, Massachusetts on 4 January 1863. Also, that William died in 1874, aged 80 years, and that he is buried in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. However, no further records have yet been found to verify these.
