I very rarely go on Facebook but as i was perusing i came across a site that's run by an old friend of ours.Who shall be nameless but is inclined to wear pink shell suits and roam around local cemetries with her dog Rowley.
This site is called I remember Blackheath and Rowley Regis and is dedicated to local history.Well the name says it all.
I have to admit, but don't let anyone tell her,her ego's large enough, she's doing a great job. It's addictive. All the old photos ate coming down from peoples lofts and cousins and old schoolfriends are meeting up again.
Highly recommended. especially for people with Blackheath and Rowley Regis connections.
You heard it here first.

Jan - you can open an account with a fictitious name on Facebook without giving any of your details. I have a fake one just for selling stuff, that's why I just completely confused Linda.

Stay off it if you have any sense. It's addictive. Folk can't go to bed, or are checking their phones in the middle of the night.

To be truthful, I only started it, with a load of my own photos and then left it alone for a while. We had about 100 members last month, I posted something, which prompted a friend to post an old film he had done, a few people invited their friends and now we have nearly 1400 Members.

For 10 years, on RRO and The Gob, I've tried to get folk to dig out their old photos, before it's too late and nobody can recognise what they are. Even worse, old relatives die and their photos go to the tip! This Group has finally done what I wanted. There are the most amazing, previously unpublished photos coming out.

One or two have posted scans from Anthony Page's books but there aren't many and they do illustrate topics, if there are any complaints I will remove them but it isn't for profit and it is all about sharing memories.

Swearing and Smut have zero tolerance and offending Members blocked  So it's a safe place to show your Granny.
