I found this site by applying to the Black Country Connections website, Jan was kind enough to redirect me here. Frederick Nelson Downs-Rose was my great grandfather. He had a daughter named Helena May Downs-Rose (my dear Nanna), who married John Richard Young and had three "children": Richard, Nicola and John. Nicola is my mother 
. My uncle John told me that he talked to Katrina via email about our background. I learned about the story about William Rose and Ellen Downs, quite a tragic tale. I have been researching my father's side (pure Greek from Corfu in particular) and I think that side may have my British side beat as far as crazy relatives go

I am an only child and was born in the U.S. to European parents. I don't have much family around, they are scattered everywhere. Oddly enough I married another only child, recently we both started researching our ancestors. We both use Ancestors.com. I am under the profile name Mavsc79, if anyone would like to take a look who knows, some of you or your relatives may be on there.
The surnames I am interested in are: DOWNES, ROSE, YOUNG, WALLACE, CARTWRIGHT
Most of my ancestors seemed to have lived in: Dudley, Staffordshire; West Bromwich, Staffordshire; Bawtry, Yorkshire; Dudley, Worcestershire and Llanedy, Carmarthenshire, Wales.
Looking forward to meeting more people and possibly learning some more.
