I believe, the missing wife on this thread is a Mary Shuker.

Records on the Family Search website and on FreeReg show the marriage of James Gaze to Mary Shuker in St Thomas’ Church, Dudley, Worcestershire on the 25 August 1818; the witnesses to the marriage were a S. Paskin and a Sarah Gaze.

Copies of the parish records of St Thomas’ Church, Dudley (held in the Coseley Family History Centre) show the christenings of two daughters of James and Mary Gaze; Mary Ann, christened on 23 November 1823 (born on 22 November 1822)
and
Charlotte, christened on 20 March 1825.
On the first record James is described as a ‘Collier’ of Netherton and on the second record he is shown as a ‘Miner’ of Dudley.
Unfortunately, Charlotte lived for less than a year; an online transcript of a parish record shows her burial in the graveyard of St Thomas’ Church on 21 September 1825, aged 11 months.

Also, IGI records were found of the christenings of a further three children, in St Thomas’ Church, Dudley, on 11 October 1835;
George, who was born on 19 June 1826;
James, who was born on 4 March 1830;
and, Elizabeth (‘Betsy’).
A BMD record shows the birth of another daughter, Esther, in September quarter 1840 and an online family tree shows the date as 28 August 1840.

A BMD record shows the death of James in the Stourbridge District in the March quarter of 1840; the above family tree shows the actual date of death was 29 March 1840.

Mary remarried to a Benjamin Powis in the Dudley District in the June quarter of 1853.

Hope this is a helpful addition to the BCC record.
Hope all had a great xmas :grin: .

Jan,

A further look shows that in the 1861 census Mary can be found living with new husband Benjamin and her son, James (transcribed as James Gays Powis) in Quarry bank, Kingswinford, Staffordshire; Benjamin is described as a ‘Miner’ and James as a ‘Chain Maker’.

A BMD record was found showing the death of Benjamin Powis in the Stourbridge District in the June quarter of 1866, aged 62 years.

The 1871 census shows Mary (Powiss) still living in Quarry Bank, Kingswinford where she is described as a ‘Former Servant’; living with her are her daughter, Esther, and her husband, Emmanuel Jasper, and their family.

The family search website shows that Esther and Emmanuel were married in Cradley Chapel, Worcestershire on 6 February 1859.

A BMD record was found showing the death of Mary (Powis) in the Stourbridge District in the March quarter of 1880, aged 89 years.

Daughter, Mary Ann married an Edward Fisher in the Stourbridge District in the December quarter of 1839. The family search website shows that they were married in Old Swinford, Worcestershire on 7 October 1839.
