I have some information about Abigail Braden, http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... den-Family
She was baptised in St Martin, Tipton (as were her siblings):
15 March 1835, Abigail, daughter of William and Mary Braden, abode Horseley, miner, performed by J. Howells
But she seems to have been several years old when she was baptised, because the 1900 US census (for Covington, Kentucky) says that she was born in January 1831,
and her obituary says that she was 77 years old when she died on 17 April 1908.
She married Henry Cherrington in St Martin, Tipton. I don't have the GRO record, but I did look up the parish record:
28 March 1853
Henry Cherrington, 21, bachelor, chain maker, of Upper Green, son of William Cherrington, miner
Abigail Breadon, 18, spinster, of Horseley, daughter of William Breadon, miner
after banns, by John Murray, witnesses John Breadon (his mark) and Naomi Jones
Signed by Henry Cherrington, and the mark of Abigail Breadon
John Breadon was presumably Abigail's brother.
castlegarden.org has the record of their immigration to the US. They arrived in New York City on 2 October 1854 aboard the Constantine. They settled in Covington, Kentucky (which happens to be just a few miles from where I spent most of my childhood, but I never knew this), and Henry ran a blacksmith business. According to his obituary he made chains for warships during the US civil war (presumably those navigating the Ohio river, which runs between Covington and Cincinnati). Henry died on 5 January 1904. He and his wife are buried in Highland Cemetery in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. I found their graves on a visit several years ago. US census records confirm that Henry and Abigail were both born in England.
