In a previous post I noted that one of the children of William and Hannah Braden (http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... den-Family) was a daughter named Hannah, baptised in 1796 at St Thomas, Dudley. I think she married Stephen Bate in Tipton in 1819. Here is the FreeReg record:
Place Tipton
Church St. Martin
MarriageDate 08 Mar 1819
GroomForename Stephen
GroomSurname BATE
GroomParish Tipton
GroomCondition Bachelor
BrideForename Hannah
BrideSurname BRADEN
BrideParish Tipton
BrideCondition Spinster
WitnessOneForename Thomas
WitnessOneSurname SANDERS
WitnessTwoForename Henry
WitnessTwoSurname HORTON
Notes Banns
There are very many people with the surname Bate on BCC. None are named Stephen, but surely this Stephen fits in somehow.
One of their children was named Phoebe, and I think this must have been the Phebe Bate who signed the death certificate of her grandmother, Hannah Braden, in 1852.
