Hi,

While perusing, I found the following reference to a Benj. Raybould in the edition of the Worcester journal issued on 29/12/1855.

" Dec 25 - [the marriage] at the Wesleyan Chapel, Stourbridge Mr Benj. Raybould of Stourbridge to Mary, daughter of Mr Benj. Williams of the Hayes Clay Works, Lye."

This is not one of 'my' Rayboulds but there are a number of incomplete Benjamin Rayboulds on BCC. I can not make a positive connection but others may be able to; or this may be a new thread for someone. :?:

Hope this is helpful.

H

A lot of Non conformist marriages are put as Registry marriages but if you know the location it can usually be looked up -this marriage prob took place at New Road Wesleyan Chapel Stourbridge so can be found at Dudley Archives Best RF

Jan,
I think the following may relate to the Benjamin in question:
1861 - 105 High Street, Stourbridge - 2065/88 page 4 -
Benjamin (24) Forgeman,
Mary (25),
John S (4),
Ann S (2)
and Margaret L (8 months).

1871 - Mount(?) St, Stourbridge - 3022/8 page 9 -
Benjamin (34) Mill Furnaceman,
Mary (35),
John S (14),
Ann S (12),
Margaret S (10),
William H (8),
Mary F (6),
and Lucy (4).

1881 - 1 Mamble St, Stourbridge - 2882/25 page 44 -
Benjamin (44), Licenced Victualer :!: ,
Mary (45),
Ann Bird (married daughter),
George W Bird (grandson),
Margaret (20),
William H (18),
Lucy (14)
and Ellenor (2).

1891 - Bridge Inn, Mamble Road, - 2303/45 page 20 -
Benjamin, Valuer :!: , (54),
Mary (55),
Mary (daughter) (26),
Lucy (24)
and Ellenor (12).

No further census records yet found but the Worcester Chronicle of 31/1/1885 shows the announcement of the marriage in the French Cathedral, Montreal, Canada of a William Henry Raybould, late of Stourbridge, 2nd son of B S Raybould, Valuer :!: , to a Victerina Brazeau of Montreal.

Hope this is at least a start :-)......H

Jan,

Further information to assist search:

IGI record shows a Benjamin Sturmey Raybould born on 2/5/1836 and christened in St Thomas Church, Dudley on 14/8/1836: parents a Benjamin and Ann Raybould.

In support, the BMD index shows the first 2 children of Benjamin and Mary were called John Stumer Raybould (6c 180 March 1857) and Ann Stermey Raybould (6c 174 December 1858).

Despite the different spellings, it is not unreasonable to assume these are all of the same family  .
