George is my gggrandfather born 1797 married to Phoebe Price.
His son John was born in 1832 but other than that i have no knowledge of any other children.
In those days large families were normal so i have often wondered if there were other children.
When were the earliest census's? Was there one in 1821 or 1831? If so i was wondering where he was living or even who his parents were!!

So you want bros of John
That would be the 1841 census
or bapts from a marriage date
have you the marriage
I am sure we found one

now why dont we show you how to do this

Rob if you have access to ancestry that would be useful
or we can help you there.
But access is better we can help you navigate that too!

To start with here is the Family search site
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

try and find your John Williams bapt as I did

go to search records
then click on International Genealogical Index
put in
John Williams
then opposite put in father George
then put in the Event ie birth christening
then a date range so put in 1828 and 10 yrs
then put in
Region which is british isles
then england for country
then county worcs
and see what you get

you should get John

then try and find George and Phebes marrage
using that family search page
change the info to marriage and names obviously change and years to search
So put in
George Williams and Phebe
then year and range
then british isles/england/and just hit county as this time the marriage will be found at Harborne which was under Staffs

you should get this

GEORGE WILLIAMS Pedigree
Marriages:
Spouse: PHEBE PRICE Family
Marriage: 25 FEB 1828 Harborne, Stafford, England
Extracted marriage

when you feel confident with that

you can learn how to collect all the kids bapt for this couple.......exciting eh?

:wink:

Good luck, Rob.

The earliest census in England is the 1841. George would could easily be on that one. Give a yell if you need a look-up.

Rob,
On the FamilySearch site, you could try putting in:
George Williams
Event = Birth/Christening
Year = 1797
Year Range = + or - 2 years
Region= British Isles
Country = England
County = Worcester

and see what happens :wink:

Di !!
I've been on that site of The Latter Day Church and followed the instructions laid down by you and Jan and it's great.
Ancestry here we come! Root Chat i'm on my way!! Geordie's eat your hearts out!! Ooopps sorry. :oops:
George Lloyd Williams - Phoebe Price
Children John Williams born 1828
Mary Ann Williams born 1830
Emmanuel Williams born 1833

I wonder where they were living in 1841?
Just a thought i'll find out eventually!!
Thanks for the tips!!! xxx

So Rob you need a look at the census
for 1841 cos all the kids might not have been bapt for that couple
or at a different church etc etc

So if you would like us to post the census we will
If you would like to join Ancestry or similar .....which is a good idea .....then get on with it!!

It does help seeing the census yourself

So next stop find that 1841 or ask for it and get all that lot added to Connections!
then you can say hey Geordie big fella move over....new kid on the block
:wink:

Hmm! It's certainly given me food for thought . I'll sleep on it but at the moment my first priority is a Tom Tom for my car and a DVD player for the passengers in the back.
There is a Cash Crunch at the moment you know we don't all come from middle class Cheshire.
Sorry i'm wheeling off topic again. :oops:
