I wonder if this is James Hodgkiss on BCC?
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... iss-FamilyTheres a possible death for Diana,
Diana Hodgkiss Jan-Feb-Mar 1838 Stourbridge Worcestershire
And there is a big gap, 10 years, between James children?

Just found all those baptisms and the marriage Jo, but you beat me in posting them! - think it ties them in with the Perrys on the Benjamin Shakespeare post quite nicely.
I think you might be correct about James already being on BCC - note Eliza on 1841 census

There is a possible marriage on FreeBMD (none on WestmidsBMD):
March Qtr 1840 Bromsgrove 18 257
James Hodgkiss/ Mary Stephens
There are two later ones 1842 and 1849 in Birmingham, but these probably too late as they would have had several children by then?
Additionally, there are several possible baptisms in the right time period, but the most likely might be:
8 Dec 1805, Brierley Hill, Mary d of JEREMIAH & Mary Stevens

The marriage is on IGI twice:
First one (ODM) 29 March 1840, Clent, James Hodgkiss/ Mary Stephens
Second one ( not submitted but VR):
1840, Clent, James Hodgkiss, father Simeon Hodgkiss, and Mary Stephens, father Jeremiah Stephens

Yep that's the one I had seen sp1!
NL can you look if you get a chance please to try and confirm!
Oh the plot thickens but slowly we will get there!
Theres a few I had seen emigrating sp1 so I will look into them around the same age I think. Mind
Slow process but it helps eliminating...
I cant think now but I think Maggie may connect? I will check and pm her if it does, see if she knows more or may be have to get a birth cert.

Can't find a baptism for a James Hodgkiss with father Simeon anywhere.
But......a Simeon Hodgkiss m Lucy Pearson 7 Dec 1806 at Kingswinford ( submitted entry). Thinking this very close to James birthdate I checked if there was a bapt for James Pearson with mother Lucy, just in case he was born prior to the marriage: nothing.
There are more marriages for a Simeon Hodgkiss:
4 Jan 1835, Kingswinford, to Ann Pearson
27 Sep 1830, St Thomas, Dudley, to Esther Cooper
(Both submitted)
Either or both of these could relate to the son of Simeon and Lucy, bapt at Brierley Hill (lost the date).
Interestingly, there is a submitted burial entry 21 Jul 1843, Kingswinford for Simeon Hodgkiss b 1783 - which means he might be found in the 1841 census
