Here's a little bit about my interests:

My family surnames (England) are
Hodgetts,
Price,
Cooper.
Worcestershire. Mainly Oldbury Halesowen Warley areas.

My Scotch Irish side is
Bell and Knipe. Very difficult to trace though so I'm concentrating on my English ancestors.

More specific: (Black Country links)
my great grandfather was
Harry Hodgetts b. 5 MAR 1863 Halesowen
m.m. in Pluckemin Somerset County NJ DEC 1889
Amplias Price b. 1867 Oldbury.

Both died Pluckemin NJ USA (New Jersey is where I live).
Great grandfather Harry was murdered on the family farm 29 AUG 1896.
Great grandmother Amplias died 1929 - Pluckemin NJ also.
-- all three daughters born there/here as well.
They're both buried in our family plot, along with their three children (Hodgetts, Jenness, Bell )
[I am a Bell; my father is Harry & Amplias' only grandchild]).

Coopers are Clara (Harry Hodgetts' sister) m. Joseph Cooper
Children: Elsie Mary, Edith May Joseph, and Doris Marian.
All remained in England; the Cooper girls wrote to their (first) cousins and Aunt Amplias here in NJ, and sent photos too.
Clara and two of the girls were living on Pound Ln Warley in 1891 and 1911 - the other sister was living at Maxstoke Castle in 1911 (employed there by the Tangye family).
Brother Joseph (b. 1891; 3 mos old in 1891 census) died before 1911 -- haven't been able to find out where or when exactly.
(1911 census: mother Clara had 4 children / 3 living).

There are other unidentified relatives (non-Coopers) in the photos; a good assumption they are Hodgetts'. Black Country also.
I will eventually identify them (as I did with the Cooper girls, through researching the families).

I have some photos of my Amplias.
Also, her husband Harry Hodgetts (my gr grandfather), taken 1896 here in NJ after their immigration and marriage. (they knew each other in Oldbury Halesowen Warley area and she followed him to the US to marry him, per my grandmother).
Amplias also returned to Warley in 1926 to see her family again.

I also have photos of the Cooper nieces (related to Amplias through Harry's sister Clara who married Joseph Cooper) and in one of the photos, Lizzie Dearne and Harry Dearne are identified.
Maggie I believe the Dearnes are part of your family also ? I think I saw them on your family tree.
I have many photos of unidentified relatives - some with first names such as Arthur and Frank etc, and maybe we can put names to these faces now with the help of your tree at BCC.

I have been working on the Dearne/Price/Fox tree for a number of years and although I have all the information on my PC, I haven't added everything to the BCC tree. I should have said, that this is my ex husband's tree, and I'm no longer in contact with him. I did stay in touch with his mom though, a lovely lady who I thought very highly of. Unfortunately, she passed away last year, but I know she would have loved to have heard from you. She is the daughter of Violet Fox and George Leonard Blundell.

Most of the information I have on this tree is from the little church in George Road, which is still there, but has had a change of name. My ex's brother in law is the pastor there, so the family is still very connected. The church is very old and if you lived in Warley (as I still do) you were baptised, married and buried there, so it was really easy to get all the information I needed from the records now held in Smethwick Archives. The other church which was used in the area is Quinton Church, but because we were on the Worcestershire/Warwickshire boundary, the records for this church are now held in Birmingham Archives.

There is an excellent site you may want to look at for Quinton, where many of the locals appear on. The Quinton Church School records are on this site. A lovely school, still in use, two of my grandchildren attend there.

NB Amplias is the correct spelling - the variants are common (that hampers my search always and yet I'm somewhat fortunate to have at least one relative with an uncommon name; then again it seems to be common with the Prices )

But as a preface, I'm not a paying member of ancestry and all the others; I'm one of those people who refuses to spend thousands of dollars to find my kin.
I just persistly search through whatever means are gratis.
I'm also happy very very happy to share what I have with others.
Bringing up ancestry, throught the kindness of a member there who turned out to be my 3rd cousin 1x removed, I have been able to build a strong tree for my father's side (and he is Amplias' grandson. And only grandchild).
He -my ancestry relative- granted me guest access to the tree and we have filled in some gaps for him (though he is most interested in my Bell kin (That is my maiden name. My father is a Bell. Son of Amplias' [and Harry's] third daughter Ella Hodgetts.)
The tree he has is huge and It's about to expand as he will be adding the Hodgetts Price line in more detail.

But I digress! Sorry!
My point is, I have no hard copies of BCs, DCs, etc. But alot of info.
It is probably also much easier for you folks to verify as it's sometimes difficult for me to gain access to things over there from here (NJ USA) even with the marvel of the internet.

For the moment, you might be interested in seeing where Amplias and Harry are buried.
10 minutes from my home. We have a family plot there. I was also married there in 1981.

Their children are also buried there (my Grandma Bell and her two sisters; and husbands).

You'll notice Harry died young.
He immigrated in 1885. Bought a 64 acre farm in Pluckemin (which is now called Bridgewater) Somerset County NJ.
My grandmother said they bred horses. Makes sense. I spent loads of time there in my childhood and the land there is not flat nor cleared for traditional farming; it's located in the Watchung Mountains (Somerset Hills) and though there were some acres flat and cleared -apple, pear, peach, and cherry orchards, vegetables, vinyard, etc- in hindsight it was a property much more conducive to something like keeping horses.

Amplias followed Harry to America in 1889 and they married 3 DEC 1889 Somerset County NJ.
New Jersey Marriages, 1678 - 1985 (Her birth year is mistakenly listed as 1865).

Daughters born 1890, 1892, and 1896. In 1896, when my grandmother the youngest was 3 mos old, Harry was murdered at the front door of their house.
Shot by a former farmhand while the family was having breakfast.

I can supply more detail if wanted.
Also, there are old articles to be found on the internet still, simply because the boy who murdered him was hung here, and he was the last person ever hung in Somerset County (in NJ??? I'll need to revisit that for fact).
The fact that it was a capital case made it 'news' beyond the County, even the State.
The New York Times carried it.
The local newspaper here has articles pertaining in archive - death, murder trial, execution.
Some of the info in those old articles aren't quite fact -such as, one says the children were born in England and they were not- so I find I need to take ANY sources as unverified until proven. I knew my Grandma was born here, and I knew Amplias and Harry married here and not before they immigrated. So I wasn't thrown off track. But some might be.

Now I feel I've written a book -and I haven't even begun to cover it all... hmm...
I'll stop for the moment.

My father is now 92 and a short time ago, he found a photo album that belonged to his aunt (dorothy Hodgetts), mother (Ella Hodgetts), and there are pictures and notes from the relatives in England. Some we are clueless as to identity -though this new tree should help as some have first names written on back.
The album is (basically) a compilation of Amplias' and Harry's oldest daughter 'going to find her father's life' and her English roots through her relatives her mom and dad left behind there.
It's understandable: imagine a child of 6 years old who loses her father (and witnesses his shooting) and then as a teenager, decides to find out what she can about him. And connects with her cousins aunts etc back in Worcestershire.

My mother would be thrilled! Baptists!
We just lost her suddenly end of July and I miss her so terribly much... but she was a Baptist (convert - was raised in a staunch German Lutheran family full of Lutheran pastors and theologians but became a Baptist in her late thirties).

The Quinton link is going to keep me busy so thanks for that also!
I believe Amplia's MIL/Harry's mother Susannah Hodgetts was buried in Christ Church The Quinton. 1914 Dec 19th.

But I am not still 100% sure it is MY Susannah Hodgetts - it all fits but I still have not verified it is her.
The only other Susannah and Joseph Hodgetts I find in that area in census records etc don't fit all that I do know about my Sus and Jos.

I am also mulling over posting the photos on a photobucket page so I can add details. Also not sure where I'd put the Mystery folks - I'm sure they're relatives, just not sure who exactly they are yet so wouldn't know if they belonged in Price or cooper albums. But using photobucket has it's limitations as the photos won't be full sized (it's often easier if the viewer can zoom into the faces... esp after 40! haha).

The real key that cemented what I had as to Harry (which is his given name, not Henry.
Helps to elimnate numerous Henrys that show up) is the photos & correspondence I have now of the Coopers.

The Cooper daughters were Amplias' daughters' first cousins, thus Amplias' nieces. Elsie, Edith, and Doris.
Their mother was Clara Cooper, Harry's sister.
I can trace Clara back to her parents (thus, confirm what I had as Harry's parents) through christening, census etc.
When I saw the tree at BCC, many marbles just fell into the right holes like BAM!
Confirmed what I had.
