That family lived in Woodside for a very long time so seems unlikely any of them were born in Gornal. However, he IS the only Benjamin born locally around that time with a father Joseph.
Also note that he is with is parents in 1841, but not in 1851.

I wonder if Benjamin was simply living in Gornal at the time. Havent been able to find him, or his possible wife in 1851 or later census.
His father Joseph WAS a nailer, as confirmed by earlier census. The date, fathers name and occupation all fit......

There were two Benjamins born in Brierley Hill in the 1820s:
one b 1825, s of Benjamin & Ann
on e b 1827, s of Thomas & Mary Anne

Not sure if either of them married

This might help:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... ptisms.htm

And this:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... urials.htm

Here's some of the Benjamin's in 1861:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... /index.htm

And here's ALL the Benjamin's in the whole 1881 census:

The Benjamin born 1825 was transported to Australia with his brother John:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... njamin.htm

Here's what I have on this family:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... _geary.htm

And here's Benjamin's death certificate, which confirms his parents names:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... njn_wa.gif

It looks like he was in Stafford jail in 1861 (his transportation records state he had previous convictions),
So the Benjamin listed as born about 1826 in More (Moor) Lane in 1861 Brierley Hill census, wife wife Sarah, is not him.

Have looked at my notes and can't see another Benjamin b Abt 1827 with father Joseph who was a nailer. Where did the couple disappear to? - still can't find them after marriage.

Seems like we have exhausted this lot of Benjamins now.
So I will archive.
