Whilst researching one of the many wrong turns I have taken I came across a possible ancestor by the name of Urscilor Hazlens, just interested if any one else has come across that surname before.

I have come across the name of Haslam, which is possibly an old Anglo Saxon name.

Hazlens is an AngloSaxon anme which comes from when the family resided in the billage of Haslam, Lancashire. The place name derived from the old English word Haesel-hamm, which is hazel-wood farm. Haslam appears to be the more common usage and as usual with a number of other spelling variations such as Hazlens.
