Hi there,
does anyone out there have any information about 'Nocks W.House' listed in the 1841 census in District 9 Rowley Regis ? 1st person listed is James Nock, then Hannah Nock (I believe her maiden name was Purton) followed by Mary Purton.

I seem to recall that it was short for Warehouse but I will double check.

Yes, the enumerator's description says:
From Five Ways Inn on that side of the road only to W H Nocks Grocers Shop at the 4 Ways, including Thomas Fellows 2 houses and Peter Shaws house, the commencing at William Coles and William Coreys house taking both sides the road to W Nocks Warehouse, thence to Thomas Sidaways "Redhalhill House" taking that side the road only, up to John Greens and Samual bakers also Richard Rocks Hut, thence taking the whole of the North side of Redhalhill up.
Does that help at all? There are a copuple of pages of families living at Nocks Warehouse so it must have been a big building.
