I am trying to find the parents of Elizabeth Stringer b. abt. 1800 in Rowley Regis.

She married Thomas Hipkiss 12 May 1823 in St Thomas, Dudley and witnesses were S or L Paskin and Isaac Priest

I have found this wedding

Could this be her sister?

Also on the 1851 census Sarah Priest b. abt 1782 Rowley Regis was visiting Thomas & Elizabeth

This Sarah fits the Sarah Stringer who married William Priest b. abt. 1790 in Rowley Regis marriage 7 March 1808 in Halesowen

Could Sarah have had Elizabeth before she married William Priest?

I thought this was already on Bcc as it is on my main Hipkiss line
Parents of Elizabeth were John Stringer b.1764 RR and Mary Gravner born 1764
They had children as follows elizabeth born 1797
Mary born 1804 Phebe born 1797 and John born 1795

There apppear to be 2 Elizabeth Stringers one married to Thomas Hipkiss and one to James Clarke

can someone clarify....

The John Stringer we have is married to Mary Grosvenor
and then Elizabeth marries James Clarke

need to know if that is corrrect

Do we have the wrong Elizabeth Stringer with father John and mother Mary linked to James Clarke instead of Thomas hipkiss

Hi NL, the information on Connections is definitely correct. Elizabeth Stringer born abt 1800, daughter of John and Mary, Married James Clarke. Their daughter Hepzibah Clarke is living with her Aunt Sarah Stringer in 1851, that is Sarah Stringer wife of Samuel Stringer born 1767, died 1851, brother of John, Hepzibah's Grandfather. I have another Elizabeth born abt. 1810, daughter of Wm Stringer and Sarah Troman, could she be yours Chris? Best Wishes Linell.

there seem to be a conflict of intrest here how do we sort it out what eviedence do you have to back your point of view mumbles

Hi Mumbles, Elizabeth Stringer 1800 who Married James Clarke, lived in Tibbetts Gardens, as did her parents John and Mary, all the Stringers in Tibbetts Gardens, are of the same family, they are all in my tree. I think Chris could be on the right track with her Priest connection. HTH from Linell.

I have 6 pages of Parish Record details and Census Records validating my version( including all RR Stringer records and references that tie up to Thomas Hipkiss Hipkiss. However there is a suggestion that there were two John & Mary Stringers in RR at same time.
I do not want to post all on to this subject post so do you want me to send to anyone else to try and resolve

if this is john and mary stringer marriage this is extracted two biths above underlined before this marriage so was mary a widower and hers from a previous or are they john or niethers ?

Thomas Hipkiss born 1802 married an Elizabeth Stringer on 12/5/1823 St.Thomas Dudley
A daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth namely Phoebe Hipkiss married a Ira Dingley and thus connection to Dingley line. (see Dingley Census details).

Elizabeth Stringer was descended from a Stringer family that first appeared on Rowley Regis Parish Records in 1734 and full transcript of records is as follows:-

From above it appears that all or most of Stringers noted are related and on Ancestry further extrapolation and detail has been given showing line as follows:-
Samuel Stringer born 1727 married an Elizabeth Westwood born 1739 Halesowen ,Worcestershire daughter of William Westwood ( 1715 to 1795) & Ann ? born 1717.
Marriage was on 28/8/1758 at Halesowen .Worcestershire
John Stringer born 1764 married a Mary Stringer ( signed as Mary Gravner) in 1795
One possible reason for this note is that John & Mary appear to have had children before & after marriage:-

More likely explanation is that the children born before marriage of 1796 were from a different John & Mary Stringer and this would tie up with age of Mary Grovenor born 1778

Checked on Ancestry and Linda Stoker and Dennis Wood also have Elizabeth Stringer as daughter of John & Mary and in turn Samuel Stringer and Elizabeth Westwood as John's parents.
The reason I did not put on Stringer details was because I was not 100% sure and it looked like there were two John & Marys and dates of b. of some children did not tie up with Mary Gravner or Grosvenor date of birth
