This Jeremiah Matthews is brother of William Matthews (see other Thread) who married into Attwood Family
http://www.bcconnections.tribalpages.co ... d=51590794

Connection is confirmed in document concerning son Charles Edward Matthews who was a famous mountaineer

http://www.oxforddnb.com/templates/arti ... 4934&back=

Article notes he had a cousin Benjamin Attwood Matthews

I have add most of info about Matthews family and Connection to Attwood family but

Three interesting points came up that I cannot take further

a) One son is noted as Francis Claughton Matthews ( note his mother is Mary Guest so Claughton not from this)
b) Living in same house as Jeremiah and Mary in 1841 are Rev. Thomas Leagh ( or Legh) Claughton and Hugh Claughton and Jane Lee
c) Jane Lee later is shown as sister.in.law (wid)

Rev. Thomas Legh Claughton became Bishop of St. Albans and a famous cleric and one of his daughters became Duchess of Argyle and one son a Baronet

Can anyone find relationship between Claughton and Matthews family and who Jane Lee (nee Guest) married

Thanks Jimmy,
I looks like Francis Claughton Mathews obtained his second name from fact that Thomas Legh Claughton lived in house 1n 1841 and it does not look as if any connection
