"Complete" Thomas Henry Meades

Came across this Thomas Henry Meades and family as connected to Foizey Family I have researched and added to bcc

The family are interesting as
a) Thomas disappears on 1871 and 1881 Census ( although ancestry tree says he was at sea but no references other than ships and Henry Meades not Thomas Henry
b) Thomas marries a German girl Anna Marie Caroline Busch and they set up a Baker and Confectioners shop in High Street West Bromwich
c) Then between 1911 and 1916 Anna visits some of her children who have taken up Canadian citizenship but her name is given as Anna M.C. Watkins ( although children are Meade)
d) Both she and her children and dau.in.law go back and forth from Canada to US and to UK between 1916 and 1935. However Anna becomes a naturalised American subject in 1929 in Pennsylvania
e) Thomas Henry disappears again from 1911 till 1914/15 when appears as bankrupt living in lodgings

Thomas Henry Meade, living in lodgings at 98 Regent
Road, Hands worth, in the city of Birmingham, and
formerly carrying on business at 120 High Street,
West Bromwich, in the county of Stafford, journeyman
baker, formerly baker and confectioner".
Can anyone find any more about this family and why they went off to Canada and US leaving Thomas Henry behind. Also where was Thomas Henry in 1871 and 1881 and after bankruptcy ( i.e. when did he die
