What we don't have, and need badly, is the leaders of the Islamic Church standing up, and using scripture from their own Holy Book, condemn these act of terrorism as being sins in the eyes of Allah.
They also need to allow the normal people of Afghanistan and Iraq to express their views to the world.
Our actions in both countries have freed the normal people from a foreign invader intent on enforcing a corrupted version of Islam on the population.
Very few Taliban troops are native to the country in which they fight.
The vast majority of citizens in both countries support our troops 100%.
But their voice is never heard. The militants and terrorists grab the headlines so much that the majority of people in the West think that both countries oppose our troops.
I can understand some young men in an isolated community being swayed by the arguments of the militants.
I will never understand how people such as these two and the Boston bombers can have access to all the available facts and still decide this is a legitimate act.

Actually, Mark, I have just heard a senior Muslim doing just that on my local radio station. He condemned them outright, and said that people who commit these terrible crimes must not hide behind Islam.
My heartfelt condolences to the young soldier's friends , family and his colleagues and thoughts are also with those unfortunate people who witnessed this atrocity.

I was driving down the M1 on Friday, a harrowing enough experience on a Bank Holiday Friday, listening to the radio, when I heard his step-father, saying how they kept ringing him, trying to make sure he wasn't the victim but in the end they had to go to bed and it wasn't until the early hours that the dreadful news was broken to them. Somehow this affected me more than anything.
