My grandfather would have been part of this action so it is nice to see some more details about it

A history of Pte Thomas Smith

Thomas landed in the Balkans on 4th July 1915 and after advanced trench warfare training moved up to the front line ready for 6-10 August …Battle of Sari Bair.

In January 1916 he was injured (no details) and after treatment and possible evacuation to UK he was placed on the SWB (Silver War Badge) List and discharged on 16th May 1916.

Many Thanks for all the post you are putting on here

Simon

Thanks for this.

My gr grandfather was in Mesopotamia with the Royal Engineers. He contracted malaria, as did most soldiers as far as I can tell. He survived the war, but was prone to bouts of malaria - this contributed indirectly to his death as his family thourght he was suffering from malaria, but he died on pneumonia.
